My name is AJ Binkley and I’m Mr. Lawn. I’ve been treating lawns in here Middle Tennessee for 10 years now. I’m not much of a salesman. My work and passion are my advertising. About Mr. Lawn
In my first season of lawn care I saw the diversity of soil types in Franklin, Brentwood and Bellemeade. I saw that the older homes would often stay greener through drought stress and respond better to fertilization holding their color for longer. I quickly grew a passion for soil science. I realized over the years, after lots of trial and error, that there simply is not a product or chemistry that will fit every lawns. The chemistry of soils demands that lawn care be custom, not cookie cutter.
Tennessee has very good soil, exceptional even, it has some quirks but all in all it's very good. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that many of you, especially in Spring Hill, Arrington and College Grove, don’t have this native topsoil. The main culprit is a change in modern construction practices. We now regrade large plots for subdivisions and in doing so remove all of the existing topsoil to get the plots to drain to codes. You can see it all over in Spring Hill, Arrington and College Grove. They don’t even add topsoil to the final grade of the build anymore, I don’t get it, it's literally dirt cheap!
